It was a spectacular sight. Last Friday, a small armada of Brethren pirates left the hidden harbor of Antiquity Keys and sailed towards the Citadel. They had heard a representative of the Royal Court of Antiquity was going to visit the Royal Antiquity Foot Guard (RAFG) and bring with him the long awaited payments for the soldiers. Festivities were planned in Citadel and everybody but the Pirates were invited. The Pirates, however, had other plans. They had decided to invite themselves to the ‘festivities’, steal the treasury and so bring a serious blow to the moral of the foot guard, but … it was to no avail.
The attack was well prepared. The Brethren of both Antiquity and Jabberwock had joined forces and sailed in three squadrons towards the walls of Citadel. Big was, however, their surprise when they did not see celebrations in Citadel, but big armies of the allied forces of RAFG, RAN and Portugalia both within the city walls and at sea. A long and bloody fight followed. One small group of Pirates quickly went ashore coming in from the west heading for the main gates, and was killed even so fast. Others engaged the battleships at sea and scaled the walls of Citadel with their ladders when they saw a chance. A group of 6 pirates broke in at the rear castle gates and quickly killed one of the RAFG’s Majors. Others had succeeded to blow up the entrance to the caverns with powder kegs. They burst from the caves across the courtyard and attacked in force up the stairs at the main gate. A confused fire fight ensued at length. Major Aegean and Commander Vella were badly wounded and a number of Pirates were killed. The Pirates withdrew to regroup, while Commodore Sideways with members of the RAN arrived in time to help engage a fight in the courtyard. The RAFG was shrewd as they used a little boy, Tepic as a human shield. The Pirates held back their fire as they did not want to hurt this boy and were repulsed. In the meantime three Antiquity Pirates arrived in the main Avenue and opened fire. They scattered, and could not help seeing their Jabberwock friend Captain Kurt being killed. Antigua Jewel guarded the corpse of her deceased husband and fought hard to keep the guards away of it. She was soon after killed as well. The battle had been fierce. It was a complete blood bath in which everybody was killed with one last man standing. It was a guardsman! Victory to the RAFG and their allies!!!
The reputation of the RAFG is saved as they are now able to pay their soldiers. However, the representative of the Court did not only bring with him a treasury. He also carried a Letter of the King with a secret message to General Moyer. This letter is stolen by the Pirates and all citizens of Antiquity are asked to go on the lookout for this letter. General Drake knows the content of the letter and tells it is imperative that its information will not get to the street.
"Brethren, I am happy you have been able to come to this meeting on such a short notice.
As you have probably heared, we have received some important information about our common enemy the Royal Antiquity Foot Guard (RAFG).
Not many of you may know, we have a secret operative among the RAFG. This operative has many times provided us important strategic information about the foot guards and Royal Antiquity Navy.
This time, our source has told us something that is not only of stretegic importance, but … that can make us rich as well.
Tomorrow, Friday January 9th of the year 1679, a representative of the Royal Court of Antiquity will travel to Citadel and bring with him the long awaited payment for the foot guard.
The arrival of this treasury is of the utmost importance to the foot guards, as the soldiers have not been paid for a long time and moral has deminished.
I would say, let’s push this low moral a bit further down the drain till no soldier is prepared anymore to fight for the RAFG. Let us steal this treasury before the payments are made.
This will not only destroy the willingness of the foot guards to fight on the side of the Royal Oppressors, but will also give us enough money to buy all the rum in Antiquity!
The plan is this
Tomorrow, after the arrival of the representative of the Court, festivities are planned in Citadel.
Everybody is invited except for us Pirates.
Captain Kurt, Captain Cannonball and myself have however decided that we will invite ourselves to the party!
And all willing and able to join us may do so and will (as is written in the Brethren Code) receive a full equal share of the booty.
Captain Kurt and myself have talked with the Prussians and proposed an alliance.
We think such an alliance will be helpful as not only the RAFG will be present at Citadel, but also the Royal Antiquity Navy and the Portugalians. So if we attack, we can be sure of some serious resistance.
It is uncertain if the Prussians will actually assist us during the attack, as they have proven to be ireliable before. So my advice is: do not count too much on them and be prepared for a fierce and bloody battle.
Captain Kurt has made a Plan for the Attack. But before I give him the opportunity to explain the plan let me ask if there are any further questions..."
